Sailing in Northwestern WisconsinFor excitement or relaxation on the water Northwest Wisconsin is the place to be no matter what type of water fun you enjoy. The thousands of lakes and rivers offer exceptional fishing for several species of fish including the elusive and prized Muskellunge or "Muskie". The lakes and rivers easily accommodate fishing from the bank or almost any type of boat. If you don't have your own boat you can charter a boat out into Lake Superior for some "Great Lakes" angling.
.
Also, the region has several cold-water trout streams for your fly-fishing enjoyment. Boating and canoeing opportunities are so numerous its hard to know where to start. The larger lakes and rivers are perfect for any watercraft from speedboats to flatbottoms. Canoeing at SunsetCanoe and kayak enthusiasts have their choice of flowing down one of the rivers or paddling across one of the several lakes including the "quiet lakes" where your engines are not allowed and your paddles provide the horsepower! For more excitement, head out on the lake for water-skiing, tubing or wakeboarding.
.
Vast public hunting lands provide the perfect weekend destination for the avid sportsman or sportswoman! Whitetail deer hunters set out each fall in pursuit of the storied Northwoods Buck. Northern Wisconsin is well known for the "bruiser bucks" that inhabit the pine forests. These same forests are also home to Wisconsin's black bear population, which can be hunted with gun or bow. Also, the river and lakeshores are a great place to set up for a morning of duck or goose hunting.
.
