The quiet town of Luck, formally named Butternut because of the large quantity of Butternut Trees in the area, is located in the rolling hills of Western Wisconsin. A unique recreational trail, the Gandy Dancer Trail, runs 98 miles from St. Croix Falls to Superior following the old Soo Line railroad. The trail passes right through Burnett County and even makes its way into Minnesota! In 1995 the portion of the trail which runs through Burnett was resurfaced with fine crushed limestone giving it a smooth but hard terrain prefect for hiking, biking, running and walking. Bike through the sister communities of Siren and Webster and make pit stops at the unique stores, antique shops and restaurants along the way. You'll pass plenty of clear water lakes to play on and find quality lodging and campsites for you and your family. Snowmobiling season is open on the trail from December through March. With it's close proximity to the Twin Cities Burnett County is the perfect location for that recreational or retirement place! So come on, build that cabin you've always dreamed of in Burnett County.
